Bronze

Sonically between a brass and copper shell, bronze is a very musical metal, as shown by its use in cymbal making for years. Bronze snares are somewhat darker than their brass counterparts, but still have a clear, defined high end and great stick articulation. The 1mm polished Bronze shell also comes with our Micro-Sensitive Throw-Off, 42-Strand snare wires, die cast hoops and a ‘Snap-In’ key holder.

Chrome Over Brass

The Gretsch classic- Crisp, powerful attack that always manages to find its own space in the overall mix. By chrome plating our brass shell, the high end of the drum is accentuated, making for a very controlled snap- this property carries across all 3 sizes.
Additional features include Lightning throw-off, die-cast hoops, 'Snap-In' key holder and 42-Strand snare wire (20-strands on 13" snare).

Hammered Chrome Over Brass

The Hammered Chrome over Brass snare drum features a large-hammered shell to produce a very distinctive, albeit slightly drier sound than our standard Chrome over Brass snare shell. Additional features include Lightning throw-off, 'Snap-In' key holder and 42-Strand snare wire (20-strands on 13" snare).

Phosphorus Bronze

When you absolutely have to destroy every 2 and 4 in the room – this is the heaviest drum we make, both in actual weight and in the sound it produces. A 5mm Bronze shell with a 45-degree bearing edge is at the core, providing projection and clarity like no other. Additional features include Lightning throw-off, die-cast hoops, 'Snap-In' key holder, and 42-Strand snare wire (20-strands on 13" drums).

Solid Aluminium

Aluminum shells are known for their dry, focused attack with minimal overtones. The 3mm reinforced shell takes those tonal properties to another level. Shell exteriors have the classic center Gretsch knurling pattern, are not plated but instead finished with a light coat of lacquer. Solid Steel

Power, versatility, definition, sensitivity... It’s all here. 3mm reinforced solid steel shells with 45-degree bearing edges. Finished in deep Black Nickel with 10 classic lugs, additional features include a Lightning throw-off, die-cast hoops, 'Snap-In' key holder, center shell Gretsch knurled pattern and 42-Strand snare wire.

Black Copper

The versatile, mic-friendly sound of copper finished in a stealthy black powder coat. Each drum begins with a thin 1mm copper shell with integrated bearing edges and snare beds. The coated interior and exterior adds just the right amount of control to augment the sonic character of the drum. The finishing touch is a laser engraved round badge logo which highlights the copper beneath.

Bell brass snare drums are sought after for their smooth, pure timbre and controlled overtones, not to mention their powerful cut. The Gretsch 3.0mm bell brass shell shares the warm characteristics of wood with the powerful cut of a metal drum. Copper

Copper snare drums musicality and beautiful appearance have been a popular choice for drummers and percussionists for many years and Gretsch’s 2mm brilliant copper snare falls right into this category. It’s thicker shell and complex character offer the ideal combination of compact feel and dynamics with a wealth of sound that any drummer would approve of.

If it’s played as a rimshot, center-head, or cross stick, the copper shell really projects regardless of the volume level you play.
