We asked...Why Gretsch?:
"They sound different from other drum brands, and they make me sound different from other drummers. The first drum kit I bought with the money I earned, was a vintage round badge kit, and it’s still in my studio now. What can I say...? I’m a huge fan!!!"

Advice to aspiring musicians?:
"Playing music is like talking with people. It is important to develop technique or skills to talk, but if you have some interesting stories to share, that’s where the conversation really starts."

Bio:
Born and raised in Beijing, China. Studied in The Netherlands. Yongheng started his career as a drummer at age 19. After 17 years of playing with China’s well-known rock artists such as: Cui Jian, Ai Jing,& The Second-hand Roses.

Yongheng is now a drummer, composer and producer back in Beijing, China.


Known for his studio works and versatility, Yongheng has played drums/ percussion on over hundreds of records and thousands of concerts, from Pop & Folk to Jazz & avant-garde, from Sinne Eeg & Chieli Minucci to Faye Wong, he has been busy touring and recording all across the country.

More recently, Yongheng has been working on recording with Radio Mars, producing his own projects, and touring with rock artist Wang Feng.
