We asked...Why Gretsch?:
"After searching all over for the right sound. Gretsch drums is the only sound I like to be identified with."

Advice to aspiring musicians?:
"Work the hands with equality and there are many books on this. “Stick control” by George Lawrence Stone is one of them. Working with metronome is paramount. Be consistent and know that the practice leads to the master.... you can have talent but you must continue to work at it. Lastly, playing for the music is the most important thing."

Bio:
Cristobal Orozco was born in Santiago de Chile on June 15 1983, from an early age he realizes that music was going to take an important role in his life

He grows up in a musician’s family and his father initiated him at age of 9 giving him his first drum kit. Later on he participated in the extension courses of the “Instituto Profesional Projazz” which lead him to consider the career of “Instrumental Interpreter with a Major in Drums” which he completed successfully in 2005.

Since then, he has been involved in projects with a variety of musical styles including Jazz, Rock, Funk, Metal, Latin, Pop, NewProg, Nu-Jazz, Hip hop, etc. and also worked as a session musician in studio and live performances with artists such as: Octopus, Myriam Hernandez, Mandracula, Consuelo Schuster, Libra, Los Tetas, De Kiruza, Javiera Mena, Pablo Herrera, Augusto Schuster, Barbara Muñoz, C-Funk & Joya, Cristobal and many others.

He is actively participating as a producer and drum tech in several recording studios (Alba Road, Agartha, Bassino Studio, Estudios del Sur, etc) , and also as part of the Drum Teachers Staff at “Instituto Profesional Projazz”.
With his metal band “Octopus” he toured Europe, performing at many important festivals BAJA PROG (Baja California, Mexicali), Crescendo (France). In 2010 he travels to Sweden to take lessons with the famous drummer Morgan Agren. After that, he starts touring Latin America and North America with national artist Myriam Hernández promoting her Top-Selling Latin Grammy nominee Album “Seduccion”.
Recently, he has been recording with Los Tetas, participating in NAMM with Istambul Cymbals, and also he has been playing live with many renowned bands and artists from Latin America, and working in a really exciting project, a drums recording/production service called “Studio Drummer”. Just recently he’s been playing for the orchestra of the Viña del Mar Festival and also in the internationally renown TV Show “The Voice” Chile.
