We asked...Why Gretsch?:
"Gretsch has always been the ultimate drum company to me. The majority of my favorite drummers and influences played Gretsch at some point in their careers, and they seem to always sound and just be in a league of their own. It is my greatest honor as a professional drummer to be a part of the Gretsch Family."
Advice to aspiring musicians?:
"Make sure to check out and study the legendary drummers from the past and not just the guys in the spotlight at the moment. They are the foundation of the drumming language. Without their influence, there is a lack of vocabulary and depth, and that language will be lost."
Bio:
Playing the drums has always been a huge part of Jody Giachello’s life. His father began teaching him how to play the drums at two years old and his involvement in jazz bands from middle school to college helped drive his lifelong passion for music. After attending Berklee College of Music, where he studied privately with Afro-Cuban and Brazilian jazz drummer Francisco Mela and was involved with legendary jazz trombonist Hal Crook’s ensemble for several semesters. He then had the privilege of performing at The Rose Bowl, touring with Concord Records jazz prodigy Taylor Eigsti, and playing with the house band for late-night NBC program Last Call with Carson Daly.
Before joining the HAIM sisters, Giachello had been keeping himself busy performing with the world’s largest touring magic show The Illusionists, which toured internationally and played 2 record breaking runs on Broadway. Playing drums for the Los Angeles-based punk/hardcore band Chotto Ghetto for the past 11 years, and producing and releasing 3 albums under his Fourth Dimension alias.
His current band Haim is an American pop rock band from Los Angeles. The band consists of three sisters: Este Haim (bass guitar and vocals), Danielle Haim (vocals and guitar) and Alana Haim (guitars, keyboards, and vocals). In addition to their primary instruments, each member is also proficient in several others. The group's pop sound on their studio work stands in contrast to the more rock-based music of their live shows.
