We asked...Why Gretsch?:
"Ive played various brands of drums throughout the years, and nothing sounds better than a Gretsch, whether old or new. Ive always admired the tone, sustain and range Gretsch drums offer, they truly are the most versatile drums out there. The legacy of Gretsch artists that have played these stunning instruments on many of my favourite records has been the main influence for my love of that “Great Gretsch Sound” "
Advice to aspiring musicians?:
"Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and put yourself out there, these are the best lessons learned. Failure is a crucial part of growth, keep turning up and allow yourself to soak up as much wisdom and experience as you can. Try to surround yourself with seasoned players; Ive found that working with older industry professionals to be imperative in shaping my skill set. Embrace your OWN musical voice, there is room for everyone and be kind to yourself, everyone is on their own personal journey, be patient and enjoy. "
Bio:
A vintage drum enthusiast and collector, Eamon Ferris, Belfast based drummer, began to take an interest in music from an early age, acquiring his first bodhran at just 9 years old. After an early introduction to the bodhran, Irish traditional music was his first discovery of group playing and collaboration. After only a couple of years he later pursued the drum kit and set upon following in his father's footsteps as a professional drummer.
He began taking lessons at the age of 11, and by his early teens, was playing in bands at local gigs at every opportunity.
Eamon has been honing his career as a session musician for the past 20 years, working with various artists and bands. Most notable artists include working as Sinead O’ Connor’s touring drummer during her 2019/2020 European and North American tours; with Van Morrison on the televised birthday celebration for the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, as well as recording a significant number of songs with the legendary artist.
In 2021 Eamon performed with Mike Scott and The Waterboys as a member of the band on their extensive UK and Ireland tour with further dates in Europe, USA and ROW planned for 2022.
