Paulinho Fonseca

Born in Belo Horizonte, in 1966, the brazilian drummer Paulo Alexandre A. Fonseca (Paulinho Fonseca) has begun his music studies by the time he was twenty in 1986, choosing the drum as his main instrument. Since the first year, the musician had as his goal the production of autoral works, playing at the beginning in the pop and rock environment until he gets at Black-music ( Funk, Disco, Soul, R&B ) which is his passion and calling.

As a co-founder member of Jota Quest band, one of the most successful and popular pop rock brazilian band, Paulinho has been playing his “groove” with his self unique way of playing with swing and creativity. Born in 1993, at the hottest moment of pop rock music in Brazil, and right after hired by Sony Music in 1996, Jota Quest has released 9 studio Albuns, 5 live albuns, 6 DVDs and a spanish album”Dias Mejores” released in 2010 which together sold more than 5 million copies and it has got more than 30 million views at youtube/vevo.

The band won in this decade two prizes of Latino Grammy. In 2011 with the album “Quinze”as the best contemporanium pop brazilian album and in 2013 with “CD DVD Rock in Rio – Ao Vivo” the best brazilian rock album. In 2014 the album “Funky Funky Boom Boom” was indicated to run for the best contemporanium pop brazilian album.

Nowadays, on tour with the new album “Pancadélico”, the second work in a row with the production signed by Jerry Barnes ( Chic, Nile Rogers, Aretha Franklin); featured Nile Rogers, (Chic, David Bowie, Daft Punk), Stuart Zender (Jamiroquai, Mark Ronson) and the percussionists Bashiri Johnson e Mauro Refosco and Cory Henry (keyboard player).

Paulinho Fonseca struggles once more to make a different special work at the stages, with his unique skills that match the groove and tight beats using his special drummer gears and eletronic devices. Paulinho Fonseca uses Gretsch drumms, Zildjian cymbals, Eletronics Roland, Liverpool Hickory Signature drumstick, KA pedals.
