We asked...Why Gretsch?: 

So many of my heroes play Gretsch drums and it’s the sound I’ve been hearing on my favourite records since I was a kid. This, combined with the brand’s history, legacy, and classic look, is why I play Gretsch.

Advice to Aspiring Musicians: 

Put in the work, keep learning, and be open to every opportunity that comes your way. Learn to love the process.

 

BIOGRAPHY

 

Brandon Toews is a drummer, author, educator, and content producer. He is the Drumeo Content Director, author of The Drummer's Toolbox, and co-author of The Best Beginner Drum Book. 

As Drumeo Content Director, Brandon has created and produced educational content with many of the world’s top drummers, including Dennis Chambers (Parliament-Funkadelic; Santana), Steve Smith (Journey; Vital Information), Simon Phillips (Toto; The Who; Jeff Beck), Aaron Spears (Ariana Grande; Usher), Todd Sucherman (Styx; Brian Wilson), Hannah Welton (Prince), and Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy).

Brandon’s drumming videos have accumulated millions of views online and have also been featured in digital publications of Billboard, Rolling Stone, Loudwire, CBC, iHeartRadio, Ultimate Classic Rock, Metal Injection, NME, and MusicRadar.

Brandon has played drums for more than 15 years and has studied with notable educators and performers, including Jared Falk (Drumeo), Colin Stranahan (Jonathan Kreisberg; Kurt Rosenwinkel), and Brian Thurgood (Edmonton Symphony Orchestra; MacEwan University). He acquired his Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music from MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada and has been creating and producing content for Drumeo since 2015.
