Influences:
My influences come from the full range of life experiences. I process what I’m living through on the drums, using music to turn both light and heavy moments into something honest and meaningful.
We asked...Why Gretsch?:
I chose to play Gretsch because the drums feel inspiring and authentic to who I am as a player. Their heritage and craftsmanship matter deeply to me, and I’m equally drawn to the strong direction the company continues to move toward. The drums respond naturally to my touch and translate my playing clearly in any musical context.
Advice to aspiring musicians?:
If you fall in love with what you do and have a clear vision, the work stops feeling heavy. Stay curious, put in the hours, and be patient with your growth. Consistency and honesty in your playing create momentum and open doors over time.
Bio:
Porter Bliquez is a Los Angeles–based drummer and producer whose playing centers on feel, sound, and musical interaction. Known for his control of time and touch, he approaches the drums as a way to shape music rather than simply support it, allowing groove, texture, and space to drive the direction of a piece. A young and in-demand voice within the music scene, Bliquez has built a reputation through compelling live performances and a growing body of original work. His recordings reflect a drummer engaged with composition and atmosphere, blurring the line between rhythm section and creative lead. He is currently touring internationally with acclaimed jazz-fusion guitarist Jack Gardiner, while also collaborating with a wide range of artists and developing music for his own projects. Grounded yet exploratory, Bliquez continues to refine a personal sound that speaks to where rhythm is headed next.
