We asked...Why Gretsch?:
The drum kits boast incredibly high-quality craftsmanship, coupled with the brand's rich history. This all translates into the drums' sound. You don't need endless hours to tune them perfectly. A true asset both live and in the studio!
Advice to aspiring musicians?:
Don't focus solely on one specific genre. Be open to other styles and try to have a solid foundation in many different genres. Furthermore, play with other musicians as much as possible, not just for yourself!
Bio:
Born in 1984 in the beautiful Ruhr-Region, Maik's musical live activities began at the age of 11. At that time, he was playing guitar in what was probably the youngest punk band in Germany. Before switching to drums at 18, Maik had already amassed several years of live experience. Until 2010, he played in various local metal and rock bands before joining one of the country's most well-known punk bands – Betontod. Numerous sold-out tours, coupled with several Top Ten chart placements, and festival appearances from Rock am Ring to the legendary Wacken – the list goes on. In between, Maik also played as a sideman in various TV productions. Since 2025, he has also been a permanent member of the Industrial Metalband Doomcrusher.
